Cloud Hosting Services

Cloud services are popular because they allow you to access your documents and systems remotely. ICU IT is here to talk you through the different cloud options and set up the one that’s right for your organisation.

Imagine that the cloud is like your bank account

The cloud allows you to securely access your data from anywhere in the world, at any time, from any location. With access to important work information no longer being limited to your PC/laptop, you can now stay in the loop via your phone, tablet and even your watch!

A common example of a cloud service that you may have heard of is Office 365 from Microsoft. Many businesses use this service for their email (Outlook), as well as for document sharing, so that employees can access everything remotely. This is an example of the public cloud, which is just one of the options available.

"As well as good value for money, excellent quality service and expert staff we know that ICU support our aims and recognise the challenges we face within the voluntary sector. ICU have become a trusted partner and adviser, flexible and accommodating to our needs as well as being proactive to help us drive efficiencies through the organisation.“

Your cloud options

There are a number of hosting options that are available to you and your business – take a look at the different options to see which one is the most suitable.

We don’t believe that there’s a one-size-fits-all solution though. Your needs may differ depending on what you need the cloud to do for you. There are a few different ways of implementing cloud hosting, and we will work with you to determine what will be the best fit for your business.

Once you’re all set up, we also offer cloud management services to ensure that everything keeps running smoothly.

Public Cloud

This is the version of the cloud mentioned above. Public cloud hosting services, such as Office 365 and G Suite, are available to anyone who signs up.

With a public cloud, you share the same servers with anyone using that service. While this may seem like a potential security risk, all public cloud servers utilise security measures that are more than adequate for most businesses.

The public cloud option is great for businesses who want to utilise the cloud without having to invest in any hardware. These services are still customisable, with various add-ons available. Here at ICU IT we are able to recommend and implement the best solution for your unique business.

Private Cloud

A private cloud is a bank of servers that are accessible only by you. These servers are ring fenced for your use only and usually located on-site or in a data centre.

A private cloud is managed by a hosting service, ourselves or your on-site IT manager. This is the option to go for if absolute security is your priority or you would like to remain in control in the event of a disaster or outage.

As well as the security benefits, you also enjoy a guaranteed bandwidth at all times, as you don’t have to share it with anyone else.

Hybrid Cloud

A hybrid cloud is when you use a mixture of both public and private cloud services. So, for example, you might have your sensitive data located on a private cloud available to internal users, but use a public cloud for something such as your email service.

Taking the hybrid approach enables you to get the best of both worlds while balancing your requirements surrounding security, accessibility and availability of your company’s data.
